Dr. L. Bojic treated four patients with advanced macular degeneration and severe vision loss in a clinical trial using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for vision improvement. Three of the four patients experienced a doubling of visual acuity after undergoing HBOT. The fourth patient saw a four-fold improvement.

One patient, a type-2 diabetic, experienced an increase in visual acuity from 0.5 (difficulty reading) to 1.0, allowing him to read normally, with just one HBOT session. The second patient's visual acuity was only 0.2, rendering him unable to read. After five HBOT sessions over three days, his acuity improved to 0.9, enabling him to read normally.
